Deep-Dive Activity Analysis in Chat
Learn how to attach completed workouts to your AI Coach chat for granular analysis of power, heart rate, and performance metrics.
Yes. You can attach any completed activity from your history directly to a chat message. This allows the AI Coach to 'see' your granular sensor data—like power, heart rate, and heart rate decoupling—to provide specific technical feedback.
Moving Beyond General Advice
Generic training advice is easy to find, but specific technical analysis usually requires a human coach or hours of manual data review. The 'Attach Activity' feature in MyTrainPal changes that by giving our AI Coach direct access to your high-resolution activity files.
When you attach an activity, the AI doesn't just see the summary—it sees the trends, the intervals, and the relationship between different metrics throughout the entire session. This allows for a much deeper level of coaching conversation.
- Get feedback on specific intervals or climbs.
- Understand the 'why' behind your heart rate or power numbers.
- Confirm if you executed a complex workout as planned.
How to Attach and Analyze an Activity
Using this feature takes only a few seconds during your coaching chat.
Open the AI Training Coach
Navigate to the Chat section from your main dashboard or sidebar.
Tap the Attachment Icon
Find the paperclip icon in the message input area at the bottom of the screen.
Select 'Attach activity'
Choose the activity option from the menu. You'll see a list of your recently synced sessions from Intervals.icu or other connected sources.
Choose your Session
Tap the activity you want to discuss. It will appear as a preview card attached to your message box.
Ask a Specific Question
Tell the coach what you're interested in. For example: 'Why was my HR so high in the second half of this ride?' or 'Did I stay in the right power zones for these 5-minute intervals?'
Pro Tips for Better Analysis
The AI is most effective when you give it a narrow 'lens' to look through. Instead of asking 'How was my ride?', try asking about specific physiological markers or execution goals.
Common things to ask about include aerobic decoupling (cardiac drift), intensity control on recovery days, or cadence variations during hill repeats. The more specific your question, the more technical and useful the AI's response will be.
Chat with vs. without Activity Context
| Coaching Goal | With Attached Activity | Standard Chat |
|---|---|---|
| Accuracy | AI uses real-time HR, Power, and Cadence data points. | Relies on your memory and high-level summary stats. |
| Execution Drill-down | Can confirm if you hit the specific power targets of a phase. | Can only discuss how you felt generally. |
| Technical Insights | Identifies trends like aerobic drift and efficiency factors. | Limited to general physiological theory. |
Troubleshooting Attachments
My recent activity isn't showing up in the list.
Ensure your primary source (e.g., Intervals.icu) has fully synced with MyTrainPal. You may need to run a manual sync from your connection settings first.
The AI says it can't read the data.
This is rare but can happen if the original file is corrupted or missing key sensor data. Ensure your head unit or watch is recording the metrics you're asking about.
I can't find the 'Attach' button on desktop.
The attachment menu is available on both mobile and desktop. Look for the paperclip icon next to the chat input field.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about setup and how the feature works.
Can I attach more than one activity to a single message?
Currently, we support attaching one activity per message to ensure the AI stays focused on a single technical context.
Does the AI see my GPS route too?
If the activity includes GPS data, the AI can see elevation profiles and route context, though the primary focus is usually on physiological metrics.
How far back can I go in my history?
You can attach any activity that has been successfully synced and imported into your MyTrainPal history.
