Use this page when the Strava connection is part of the problem.
Strava issues usually fall into one of three buckets: connection state, missing data, or understanding whether Strava should be connected directly instead of through another source.
How to connect
- Open MyTrainPal settings and start from the connections area.
- Authorize the Strava account you want to use as the direct source.
- Confirm the connection status before troubleshooting activity-level issues.
- Use the direct connection when Strava is the original source of the data you care about.
Why sync gaps happen
A healthy connection does not always mean identical data. The most common gap is when Strava-origin data is being re-exported through another service, which can change what fields or historical records are available downstream.
Privacy and permissions
MyTrainPal only uses the permissions required to provide training analysis and connected workflows. If a permission is missing or access is revoked, the connection can remain visible while the available data shrinks.
When to reconnect or disconnect
Reconnect when the account authorization looks stale or the wrong athlete account is linked. Disconnect only when you want to stop using Strava as a direct source or replace it with a clean connection.
Why my Strava activities are not seen by the AI coach
This is required by Strava's API Terms of Service. Strava does not allow apps to pass data received from its API to AI models, so activities that reach MyTrainPal only through Strava can't be used by the AI coach in chat or when it builds and adjusts your plan.
Your Strava connection still works for everything else it supports. The limit only applies to what the AI coach is allowed to read.
